Results – Laser Western Canada Masters Championships

Congratulations to Lewis Otereulo, who with 16 pts, won all the races to win the WC Masters. Light air was the name of the game this past weekend. L.O.’s speed up and down the course made it difficult to pass him as reflected in how little it happened. Doug Bell was 2nd with 18 pts, Lammens 3rd-24 pts, Ben Pickford 4th-24 pts, Barry Tee 5th-26 pts, Pat Byrns 6th -26 pts, Duncan Cook 7th-33 pts, Dave Elliott 8th-35 pts, Timur Rudnitskiy 9th-47 pts and JDE 10th-99 pts to round out the top 10. Thank you to Mike Heseltine, Payton, Tanys, Sydney and Ellyn Byrns, Leigh and Margot Campbell, John Barry, and Imbaw Storer for all of the hospitality and good racing. Sincerely, Mark Lammens – Regatta Chair.

Overall standings as well as results by Masters category are posted on the Regatta Page of this site.  Masters pics are loaded on the Photo Gallery page.

Results – June 11 Sunset Series

There was good racing but much of it was in the rain. Thanks to Steve Shirtliffe for assisting me in the RC boat. Ben

Results are posted on the Regatta page of the website.

Mountain Madness Results Have been Located!

Congratulation to Sydney Byrns, who wrapped up the overall winning position in the Laser Fleet on Sunday.  Ben Pickford just managed to hang on to 2nd place (and his tiller extension!!) ahead of Pat Byrns, despite a mechanical breakdown and dip in the lake leading to a dnf in the last race.  The Double handed fleet saw the 29ers out race the Laser 2 and the competition was fierce in the Optimist fleet, with both Ellen Byrns and Nick Otereulo taking at least one win!  Again thanks to Mike, Leigh, Margot, Warren and John for making the whole weekend happen!  The full results are now posted on the website on the Regatta page of this site.

Masters – Western Canadian Laser Champs Regatta this Weekend June 14/15

Coming up this weekend June 14/15 is the Western Canadian Masters Laser Championships.  Notice of race and registration form are available for download from the website Regatta page.    PLEASE NOTE one change to the Notice – Racing will begin at 10:30AM saturday morning.  This delays the start time by 30 minutes from the originally indicated 10AM start.  All else remains the same.   A tasty steak BBQ will be available to everyone after racing on Saturday.

WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS!!  Particularily from the under 35 years of age crowd.  A second pair of hands is needed in all of safety, markset and RC boats. If you can help out either or both days please let us know ASAP!!

Mountain Madness Regatta Results Missing in Action!

Have you seen the MMR overall results? The Mountain Madness Regatta was held this past weekend with 16 boats on the line including Laser’s, Laser 2’s, 29ers, Radials, Bytes and Opti’s. The racing was fierce on Saturday followed by a tasty BBQ Saturday evening (Thanks Margot!!). Quite a few folks chose to camp out at the club overnight for the early start Sunday morning. Winds started out in the midrange Sunday morning but escalated to over 20 knots by the second race leading to the cancellation of remaining races. Thanks to Mike Heseltine for his expertise at running races as well as Leigh Campbell, Warren White, John Barry and Mark Lammens for extra help out on the water. Currently the overall results are missing in action. Rumor has it they are in the hands of Mark Lammens, who is apparently out coaching at BSSC all this week. Hopefully we will track him and the results down soon for posting…stay tuned…
