Over the years the low membership fees structure of Blackstrap Sailing Club has made it possible for all enthusiasts including families, students and disabled sailors to enjoy the sport of sailing and to make full use of the facilities. The club is run entirely by volunteers which makes it possible to control costs while maintaining and upgrading the facilities. The Commodore’s cup is presented annually to the person or persons that personified the spirit of volunteerism that is core to the continued operation and success of Blackstrap Sailing Club. In 2018, Amy Langhorne and Kate Langhorne served on the executive in demanding positions, while Nick Langhorne contributed as the groundskeeper and Steve Langhorne volunteered for several work bees to upgrade the facilities. This was truly a family effort and it is with considerable appreciation that the 2018 Commodore’s Cup is presented to the Langhorne Family.
